ISLAMABAD: On November 18, 2025, the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-Pakistan (TTAP) spearheaded a protest rally against the 27th Constitutional Amendment, marching from the Parliament House to the Supreme Court. The event attracted numerous participants, including opposition alliance chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, members of Parliament, lawyers, and activists. Demonstrators expressed their dissent against what they termed ongoing constitutional violations in the country.
A March for Justice
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas addressed the media during the protest, emphasizing the movement's dedication to safeguarding the Constitution. "We walked from Parliament to the Supreme Court to illustrate how all avenues of justice have been closed for the people of Pakistan," he stated. He lamented that the Constitution, which was unanimously agreed upon, has been reduced to a "contested document." Abbas asserted that no legislation should contradict the spirit of the Constitution.
Concerns Over Freedom of Expression
During his remarks, Allama Abbas criticized the suppression of freedom of expression in Pakistan, asserting that fundamental human rights are being violated. "People have been silenced, and we will not remain quiet as long as we live," he remarked, underscoring the urgency of their cause.
National Action Plan
In response to the recent legislative changes, the TTAP announced plans for a nationwide observance of "Black Day" the following Friday, encouraging supporters to wear black armbands as a symbol of protest. Additionally, a national conference will be convened as part of the ongoing movement to address these constitutional concerns.
Context of the 27th Constitutional Amendment
