The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has made significant strides in combating drug trafficking, arresting six suspects and confiscating 214.22 kg of narcotics valued at more than Rs27.3 million across eight operations throughout the country.
Recent Operations
In a remarkable series of operations, the ANF executed key arrests and seizures in various locations. Notably, two individuals traveling to Bahrain were apprehended at Peshawar Airport, yielding 1.5 kg of methamphetamine (ice). Additionally, at Lahore Airport, authorities discovered 80 heroin-filled capsules, weighing 460 grams, concealed in the abdomen of a passenger en route to Jeddah, leading to his arrest.
Another operation at Lahore Airport resulted in the recovery of 1.75 kg of cannabis hidden within a parcel arriving from the United States. In a related incident, 210 grams of cannabinoid were seized from clothing within a parcel at a courier office in Islamabad, destined for the United Arab Emirates.
Domestic Drug Interdiction
The ANF also intensified its domestic drug interdiction efforts. Near the Baleli Check Post in District Quetta, 8.4 kg of hashish was confiscated from a motorcyclist, resulting in his arrest. Additionally, law enforcement intercepted a motorcycle rider on Faisalabad Road, Sheikhupura, leading to the seizure of 5 kg of hashish and 1 kg of opium. In Peshawar, another operation resulted in the recovery of 900 grams of hashish from a vehicle, with a suspect taken into custody.
Further contributing to these efforts, 195 kg of opium was uncovered near Aghberg in District Quetta.
Legal Proceedings
All apprehended individuals now face charges under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, as investigations continue to ascertain the full extent of these narcotics operations.
